    LtCol Charlie Schaupp is honored to serve as the the guest military speaker at the National Veteran's Cemetery in Igo (25 miles west of Redding) on Veteran's Day 2007. Charlie spoke of the heroism of the young Marines he served with in the Battle of Fallujah, Iraq. Congressman Herger and others cheer Charlie on in the background and Charlie was honored with a standing ovation from the crowd of almost 500 in attendance.

    Charlie receives the District Award of Merit by the Yolo District of the Boy Scouts of America for many years of service to youth and the Scouting programs. Today Charlie is serving as Scoutmaster of Esparto's Troop 192.

  • Charlie Schaupp: Good Conduct Award, Japan
    Camp Courtney Commander, Colonel Reilly (back row center) and Deputy Camp Commander LtCol Charlie Schaupp (back row right holding the certificate) are honored by the Japanese Good Conduct Society for exemplary public service and deeds of good conduct to the citizens of Japan. Camp Courtney (where Charlie was the Deputy Commander and responsible for community outreach and service) was chosen in a national competition for the award. The Good Conduct award is considered one of the highest honors for public service in Japan. Also seated and standing are Japanese citizens and youth who were also honored with the award.   • Charlie Schaupp: Scout Master during Eagle Week
    Eagle Week at Camp Pahatsi (High Serras, 1989) where Charlie served as Scoutmaster for a composite troop of older Scouts who were working on their Eagle rank. Charlie believes that scouting is one of the best programs to help America's youth learn leadership and citizenship, and he has served scouting for over 20 years as an adult leader. As a youth Charlie was also a scout and attended the 1969 National Jamboree in Idaho along with 5000 other boys.

    Charlie as a young First-Class Scout with Troop 192 on a 50 mile hike in the high Sierras in 1968 (Camp Loon Lake to Camp Harvey West Scout Trek through the Desolation Wilderness above Lake Tahoe). Scouts are (front to back) Phillip Arellano, Hank Campbell, Dan Durst, Terry Cramer, Carl Davis, Steve White, Charlie Schaupp, Assistant Scoutmaster Phil Campbell and Scoutmaster Charlie Gorden Jr. Charlie's dad was in the same Boy Scout troop in the 1930's and his Scoutmaster was Charlie Gorden Sr (Charlie's Scoutmaster's father).

    Troop 21 at the 1969 Jamboree, Farragut State Park, Idaho, seen on their pioneering tower. Charlie is bottom row, center front. All the Scouts from Troop 21 came from Northern California's Golden Empire Council and attended the Jamboree for a week with 5000 other Scouts from across the United States.
