Charlie and Kwangja (Kay) marry, Christmas Day 2003, in Buchon, South Korea. Charlie met Kay while serving in Korea in the summer of 2003 and Charlie knew on their first date that Kay was the person he would spend the rest of his life with.

The Schaupps had grown sugar beets for over a quarter century when the photo was taken and both Clarence and Bob had served as directors with the Sugar Beet Growers Association. Unfortunately, 1999 was one of the last years this profitable crop could be grown due to the closing of the Speckles processing plant in Yolo County. And sadly, Charlie and Bob's dad passed away in 2002 while Charlie was deployed with the Marines supporting the Global War on Terrorism.
Charlie's grandfather Charlie Schaupp and father Clarence Schaupp (seated) are seen on their brand new AC10 tractor in 1949. For almost a generation the family had been using the older Caterpillar-Holt crawler tractors. The AC was a big improvement in turning over the heavy clay soils that the Schaupp's grew rice on.
Charlie and Kay enjoy dinner as the guest of honor at the Gushikawa Lions Club dinner in Japan. Charlie has been a member of the Esparto Lions Club for 20 years and has stayed active in the Lions while deployed overseas.
Charlie pilots the family 1930 five window coupe Model A Ford in the 1974 Yuba College homecoming parade. Charlie is seen with Fred Delgado and Gary Caudle (in the rumble seat) greeting the crowd. They were all residents of Yuba College's Warren Hall.

Charlie’s maternal grandfather, Clarence Flesher, in a brand new 1914 Ford Model T. Clarence was a photographer who documented much of the history of western Yolo County in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The photo shows his photography studio located in Winters, in the background.
Charlie's great-grandfather, David Schlotz, building north state roads between 1905 and 1915. David was a veteran of the Spanish American War. There is currently a street named after him in Woodland, CA (Schlotz Court).

Charlie's great grandfather John Schaupp and Fredia Schaupp in their wedding photo. The couple settled in the Hungry Hollow Hills of Yolo County in the 1880's and Charlie's family still farms the lower irrigated lands adjacent to the original homestead.
