The Conservatives’ Choice
October 14th, 2011Conservative values. Strong leadership. Fiscal responsibility. Protecting our water and resources for our communities.
When Charlie Schaupp heads to Washington, he won’t forget why he’s there: To represent our community with strength, conviction and integrity.
Charlie has proven himself as a tenacious, honor-bound leader, both at home and while serving in the US Marines. His dedication to our country’s proud heritage and traditional values uniquely qualify him to hold steadfast to his beliefs when he heads to Washington to represent the citizens in California’s newly-redrawn Third Congressional District. A “politician” will tell you what you want to hear, but a leader, like Charlie, will tell you the truth.
Fourth generation Yolo County farmer
Charlie understands the importance of our district’s water, soil and natural resources. From a lifetime of experience in agriculture and farming, Charlie knows firsthand that these vital resources allow our farms to thrive and our communities to grow.
“My family has grown crops and operated a family farm in western Yolo County since the 1880s,” he says proudly. “I know that it’s vitally important for our future that we protect the soil, water and resources that provide us with our food, livelihoods and rural way of life.”
28 years of service in US Marines
Charlie is a veteran of both Desert Storm and Iraq’s Battle of Fallujah (see account of his service in Fallujah here). He is a proven leader who’s served in both peace and war. Charlie understands the vital importance of our nation’s defense as well as the needs of our veterans and our active duty forces. Charlie believes that, as the Constitution states, no issue can be more important than to “provide for the common defense” of our freedoms and liberty.
Proven leadership to restore fiscal responsibility to Congress
As a member and former director of the Yolo County Taxpayers’ Association, Charlie continues to fight for fiscal responsibility in both government and from our elected officials. In Charlie’s eyes, no issue is more important to the future of our nation, or our children, than governmental fiscal responsibility.
Our nation’s future is at risk due to the reckless spending in Washington, DC. Charlie will work to restore common sense fiscal accountability to Congress.
Protecting water and Northern California’s natural resources
Today, as never before, outside interests are trying to gain a foothold in Northern California to obtain our water and precious resources. In the 1980s, Charlie volunteered and helped put the Peripheral Canal Referendum on the ballot to stop the wholesaling of Northern California’s water.
Charlie believes that we must continue to protect our watersheds and water rights so our communities can grow, ensuring that farmers can continue providing the bounty of food that our nation has come to count on.
